Hey, I'm Jaclyn
You can usually find me somewhere between curiosity and "There's got to be a better way."
As an instructional designer at Arizona State University, I build cutting-edge courses and integrate agentic AI as a collaborative tool in the design process.
As Captain Marvel says, "Higher, further, faster."
I've spent more than a decade designing learning experiences, beginning in low-income schools supporting students in special education. Along the way, I discovered I loved helping other educators grow just as much as I loved teaching students. That pull toward helping professionals learn is what led me to the learning design field.
On any given day, you'll find me designing courses, collaborating with subject matter experts, building agentic AI workflows with Claude Code, leveraging MCP tools, creating reusable AI skills, exploring accessibility solutions, and happily disappearing down rabbit holes that start with, "I wonder if..." and occasionally end with a prototype worth sharing.
As I build my skillset and experiment with the latest tech, it's important to know: I'm not a gatekeeper, I'm a gatebreaker (I should trademark that). If I discover a tool, workflow, or approach that genuinely helps, my instinct is to share it. When we all level up together, we create better learning experiences, ask better questions, and spend more time doing the work that matters.
At my core, I want people to leave every interaction a little more confident than when they started. Whether that's through a course, a workshop, an AI workflow, or a conversation over coffee, that's the part of this work I'll never get tired of.
Stay curious. Share generously.
Leave things better than you found them.
This photo is from the sideview mirror of my car at Saguaro National Park. Just like my photography, I bring a fresh, unique perspective to learning and development teams.
Community Impact
I believe in the concept that “small steps can make a huge impact!” I advocate for community involvement in an area of interest to help build up your hometown. Below are a few organizations I have and continue to support locally here in the Phoenix metro area.
2017-2020 Arizona Children’s THRIVE Mentor: Program for teens aging out of foster care
2020-present Arizona Border Collie Rescue: Foster home
Favorite local charity: Foster Alliance supporting foster care families
Fun Randomness
I love to travel to new places near and far. I enjoy keeping my culinary skills fresh by watching cooking videos or going to classes. Rescued is my favorite breed of dog and below are pictures of my three pups: Zoey, Piper, and Cole. I'm a hobbyist photographer and the pictures on this website are all my own work.
I'm an old soul who collects vinyl records from thrift shops. My collection is mostly jazz, swing, and anything nostalgic that reminds me of cleaning on Saturday mornings with my mom. Ask me about my favorite album!
